There are many sites dedicated to Internet Dating. Some are general Internet dating sites like Match.com, Matchmaker, Friendfinder, Kiss.com and the like. These sites try to cater to everyone of all interest and hope that sheer numbers of members will result in succes. Match.com was the first on the scene (Launched in April 1995) and has enjoyed the success that comes with being a prime mover. The others, for the most part are Me-too's that are trying to get a piece of the Internet dating action.
Another type of Internet dating site is the demographically targeted internet dating site. Examples of this type of site include Korean Friendfinder, Asian-Singles, J-date (Jewish Internet Dating site) and similar sites. These sites depend on the tendency of people to prefer other who are like themselves.
A third type of Internet dating site is interest based. Examples include Adult Internet dating sites (mainly geared toward those looking for sex) on one end of the spectrum to Internet dating sites that cater to people with interest in spirituality and finding a rewarding, lasting relationship. Soulweavers.com is an example of such an Internet dating site.
